Spring arrives, and so does your allergies.
For some of us, spring is a renewing sign, the sun comes back, we can get rid of that big jacket, planning our first barbecue with friends, the flowers start blooming. Which can be bad news for some of us.
As nice as all that is, flowers don’t bloom without showing their pollen, causing some of us pretty bad reactions.
Here is a short guide to natural remedies you might not have tried yet.
Acupuncture
I have been using acupuncture for quiet a while now and I can tell you from experience, this works!
Now that said, always go to a real professional and avoid going to the first one you find in your area. You will have to do a bit of research and look for patients comments.
Acupressure
Acupressure using a Qi-Chi Hay fever band is another solution you can use throughout your day. You just have to place it on your elbow will apply pressure to the LI-11 acupoint on the elbow, known in Chinese as Quchi.
Wash your hair before bed
Seems logical, but I personally never thought about before I was … well let’s not go there.
During the day, you walk outside, the air goes in your hair and this one is carrying what ? Yes, you guessed right. POLEN! Cleaning it before bed (after closing your windows) will help you get ride of any particules that might have gotten stuck in your hair throughout the day.
Use a Gua Sha
I am always amazed at how many things you can do with this simple but amazing tool.
First, make sure to keep your Gua Sha in the fridge so it’s cool when you need to use it. After cleaning your hair (as you understood, before bed) and face, use your fresh Gua Sha all over your face, this will reduce inflammation, work it around your sinuses to clear it as much as possible.
Here is a short video on how to use this tool:
Clear out your nose before bed.
Using a Rhino Horn before bed is such a nice thing to do to clear out your sinus. Who likes to have a blocked nose anyway. This will also help to get ride of those pollen particules that might have gotten stuck up there (… don’t be nasty).
You also can use more than once a day which is awesome.
Local honey for hay fever
Ok, this one might seem a bit surprising but it seems that exposing yourself to the same pollen. Unfortunately there are no scientific evidence to support it, but if you like honey you will then support your local production. It’s a win for you, the apicultor, and the environment. So why not try it ?
